Radio Workshop: What’s in a hairstyle?

Odwa Sityata

Welcome to the Radio Workshop!

Afro, weaves, braids, curly, straight – there are so many hairstyles to choose from! How we choose to wear our hair can say a lot about us. The Radio Workshop spoke to a hairdresser, a Rastafarian and a young woman about their hair. We found out that there’s sometimes a bigger story behind the style. This show has been entirely produced by youth, the Community Leaders of Equal Education!

Radio Workshop: Celebrating Women

Aaniyah, Riyadh and Madyo Omardien

Welcome to the Radio Workshop!

The Radio Workshop spoke to a matriarch, a new mother and a group of teenage girls. They share their experience of womanhood in celebration of Woman’s Day. They range in age from 61 to 13 years old but all are connected by a sense of purpose, love, learning and gratitude. We’re again reminded that an entire generation of women nursed South Africa to freedom and democracy, and that the view we have of our future is only because we stand on the shoulders of giants.
