Youth reporters in Zambia

Welcome to the Radio Workshop!

According to UNICEF statistics, three million youth aged 15 – 24 are infected with HIV and AIDS in Africa. The Children’s Radio Foundation conducted radio trainings in Zambia where youth discussed this burning issue. They share their stories about how the disease touches their lives. They created Public Service Announcements and took to the streets to get youth opinions.

Tambudzai and friend in Mongu

Welcome to the Radio Workshop!

The Zambian Children’s Climate Conference is an inspiring event. It’s a place where more experienced Climate Ambassadors share their ideas and strategies for success with new youth joining the UNICEF initiative. Youth Facilitator Tambudzai Mutale is 19 years old. She tells younger climate warriors how she started a project to build a floating school in Mongu, which is badly affected by floods during the rainy season in Zambia.

Neglect and abuse are some of the harsh realities many children live with. Youth reporters from Manenberg in Cape Town were brave enough to share their stories and experiences with us. They also went to Child Welfare and interviewed social workers there to get some answers to their questions.

Manenberg youth reporters

The Children’s Radio Foundation trained a group of young reporters in Manenberg in Cape Town. They discovered they all shared experiences about crime in their community. Armed with their audio recorders they went to their local police station to find out what police were doing about it.
