Congratulations to our talented youth reporter, Beatrice Phiri, who came second in an Africa Directions ‘Girls Day’ competition in Lusaka, Zambia! She has now been given an opportunity to work with Hot FM radio station where she will be presenting a show on Sexual Reproductive Health.

The competition included girls competing in radio presenting and DJ-ing, with the aim to promote more girls to talk about Sexual Reproductive Health and Right (SRHR) on radio. Beatrice was part of the 20 girls that were shortlisted to be taught in radio production and SRHR. Africa Directions want to encourage girls to venture in career fields that are perceived to be male dominated and also to give them a deeper understanding of sexual and reproductive health. The event was created in partnership with Plan International Zambia.

“The auditions were super tough, the girls are super talented”, said Beatrice. “Thank you so much Africa Directions for giving girls like me, an opportunity to continue developing our potential. I will always stand and do my level best to make this world a better and sustainable place for every person to live in.”

Congratulations Beatrice. May you go on to greater things!
