We use radio to amplify youth voices across Africa, giving them the skills and tools to speak about their lives
South African Nolusindiso Mguye was invited to attend and introduce her video on stage at the Global Citizens Festival in the USA. Here she reflects on her trip.
“My trip to New York City was a great experience and a life-time opportunity. It was amazing! At the Global Citizen festival I had the greatest time of my life, and so much fun… I met people such as Ndaba Mandela, Jeff Radebe, and I met Whoopie Goldberg back stage. She is an inspiration to me!
I was shaking in my boots as I was due to go on stage but I managed to calm down. I couldn’t believe that I was standing in front of 60 000 people and talking freely. I touched many people when my video was screened, and a lot of people said how courageous I was. I should keep on doing what I am doing and help other people and change their lives. It’s been such a great experience and I really enjoyed my time there. I thank Genevieve [US CRF colleague] for always being with me, taking care of me and taking me to places, and for her love and care.”
