We are proud to announce that one of our project partners in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jeunialissime, an LGBTI youth advocacy group based in Kinshasa, have recently won second prize in the NOW-Us! Awards at the Partos Innovation Festival in Amsterdam.

The NOW-Us! Awards recognize projects that support thus far unheard voices to express their views and demand their right to be heard and included. Three initiatives that work to empower marginalized groups were selected and awarded cash prizes.

We partner with Jeunialissime to implement the LGBTI Youth Radio Initiative, which develops the communication capacity of LGBTI activists and human rights groups in Kinshasa. The programs advance LGBTI rights, erode stigma, and improve access to health services. Read here to find out the context of this radio initiative, and the impact that it can have in the DRC LGBTI community.

You can read more about their work in this recent English language online magazine, Jeunialissime that explores the existential and spiritual issues posed by young LGBTIQ people, but also all young people in general, in search of their identity.
